About The SuperBUILD was a unique opportunity to provide tangible, hands-on assistance for families impacted by the Gulf Coast hurricanes. Habitat for Humanity during Super Bowl Week, January 28 - February 2, teamed up to blitz build panelized wall frames for 40 "home kits" and ship them to communities serving displaced families. Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Houston, College Station and Forth Worth Texas have committed to accepting all 40 "home kits" for evacuee families who have chosen to permanently relocate there. The SuperBUILD Project was led by the Metro Detroit Habitat for Humanity affiliates- Detroit, Oakland and Macomb - "Team Habitat". Sponsoring affiliates from across the country will send volunteer representatives, while daily support was encouraged and open to interested volunteers from Southeastern Michigan and beyond. Little to no building experience was required. Our experienced construction leaders happily provided on-the-job training! Team Habitat engaged the 32 NFL teams and boosted media interest in SuperBUILD by dedicating one home to each team Support your favorite team; support simple, decent, affordable housing. Join Team Habitat: we have the XL Heart necessary to put forth an XL Effort to serve our fellow Americans' XL Need. |
